About Social Sprouts

video modeling, participation, and repetition to facilitate the development of foundational skills needed to engage and connect with others.

Dr. Aishah Muhammad-Flissinger, founder of Social Sprouts, has been a practicing pediatric Occupational Therapist since 2003, receiving her Masters and Clinical Doctorate degrees from the University of Southern California (USC).  She has an advanced certification in Sensory Integration (SIPT certified) and has completed the Social Thinking Clinical Training Program.  Dr.  Muhammad-Flissinger has training in numerous additional programs, including various reflex integration programs, The Listening Program, Therapeutic Listening, Zones of Regulation, The Alert Program, and Relationship Development Intervention.  She has provided individual and group-based therapy services in-home, school and clinic-based settings.

Research has shown that play is the first and primary vehicle that children use to develop and learn.  Through play, children learn how to interact with others, develop friendships and engage as part of a group in their academic and, later in, professional life.  However, several factors can affect a child's ability to play and socialize, resulting in challenges with self-confidence, mental health, and academic learning.  Social Sprouts' goal is to support children's participation in play, social interactions and self-regulation skills.

In addition to providing direct social-emotional learning therapy, Social Sprouts started producing an animated series, called Social Sleuthers, to provide resources to clinicians and parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.  This series is supported by evidence-based practice and uses
